I suppose I might give more credibility to Macron if his messaging were a little more consistent and a lot less haphazard and all over the map. One minute, Putin's his pal and now he's the devil? He wants to confront Putin's army in Ukraine but ran away from Putin's militia in Africa? Anyway, I think this scheme would have worked a helluva lot better if it had encompassed the entirety of NATO and commenced in the summer and fall of 2021 when Putin was assembling and staging his forces.... for "exercises".... remember that?... instead of now. Show a bit of muscle... and some balls.... early on and you likely don't even get a war in the first place. But alas, no. We all chose the terrified puppy approach of diving under the bed, screaming about "ESCALATION!!" like old Granny Scholz, and hoping it would all just go away. Well it hasn't. And 2+ years later, here we are. And we've gotten our escalation anyway.
