  1. NATO red lines - "We will not be engaging in direct combat with Russia." Exactly; and Putin knows this which is why he's sure he can prevail over time. He knows that Scholz is a coward. He knows that Biden is a doddering old fool who doesn't know what day it is most of the time. He knows that all France cares about is re-colonizing Africa and he knows that Britain is a five alarm dumpster fire lurching from crisis to crisis. He's seen America get chased out of Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia and he knows that they have no stomach for any war they can't win quickly and cleanly or for any more new wars which is I'm sure, a good part of the reason he chose the timing that he did. Putin perceives the west as militarily powerful but morally weak and when you're a man who is as immune to and uncaring about casualties and cost as he is, when you can and will throw bodies and gear... even old crapped out gear... at a problem for pretty much as long as it takes, and when you know the only people who have the ability to stop you don't have the will to do so, why would you stop?

  2. @@user-qk1ei3br8n They won't though, because the war has broad support in Russia because A) they've been propagandized into believing Putin's lies and/or B) anyone with the motivation or ability to do so has been driven out of the country, jailed or eliminated.
