Peddle fear, suspicion, hate; otherize minority groups, tell people their problems are all someone else's fault and generally feed and nurture every base instinct they have and you'll never suffer for an audience nor will you ever go bankrupt. It's always been based on the premise that people will believe what they want to believe and search for any way to rationalize it. Of course, it doesn't help when traditional media... you know, the kind we're continually told we HAVE to trust.... continues to incinerate their own credibility on the alter of ratings and ad revenue.
