  1. Forget it, never going to happen, would never work. For one thing, the members are too far apart and have very little in common in terms of day to day interest and more importantly, as Shirvan said, some level of national sovereignty would have to be surrendered for the scheme to work and no nation is ever going to accept that. I live in Canada and we can't even get the provinces to cooperate, for heaven's sake! Canada is dominated by Quebec and Ontario. The 4 western and 4 eastern provinces would have immensely more power and influence in the union if they'd put aside their petty differences and work together but they won't because each province represents a mini fiefdom for someone and they're all too jealous of their neighbors and too scared that one may gain some piddling, trivial advantage that they won't. So they remain divided and weak. Britain left the EU because it didn't want to surrender control. Fine; fair enough but where does that now leave them? To return to some glorious, mythical past greatness? The return of empire? To "Rule Britannia?" Hardly! They'll do well if they can even keep up with Germany much less surpass them and that's not even considering China.
