  1. I have a question: All those interviewed replied according to genre or story if they did watch Anime and the reason or preference why. But did none of them answer that a particular art style or beautiful animation was also the main reason for a given anime? I find that a curious result? Is it because they all ASSUMED the question was referring to story, theme or genre and thus they did not consider the art style? Perhaps if the question explicitly noted Anime as a form of art, they might have talked about that too? It seems given anime is about animation and art, a big big omission? If a personal answer was given from me, then it would include Art + Story + Inventiveness + Ethos. Japan seems to shine at combining all these in remarkable and varied forms. The best anime film I have ever seen is Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind which combined all the above, perfectly. Quentin Tarantino said that Battle Royale was his favourite film and to me it shares similar qualities to Nausicaa but as a film, again a masterpiece - perhaps I will read the original manga of it one day. As for anime series, I don't know many, but the Art that impresses me the most as well as the theme even if story is a typical adventure sort of story, is Demon Slayer. The art is just so beautiful in depiction of simple things: Nature, clothes, hair styles etc. The style of character design is distinct and quirky without being offputting too, which gives it a distinct feel also - that is important given how many anime/manga stories there are. I think seeing such creative work from people feels uplifting and enhancing to experience. That seems anime's positive contribution. It is inspiring.
