Not the cause. He said the sin of Slavery and asked the once divided country to move forward. Civil war was never about Slavery (the highlighted question) but overall conflicts between North vs South economy/Unions and politics Slavery was heavily institutionalized in South only. Not the North

@jakes658 not really. the North states (5 states) had policies that first abolished Slavery because their fundamental economy never required the buying of Slaves. The divided Unions were the North issues not Slavery. But people like you always succumb towards a politicized 50 year old outdated narrative. Like medias keep boiling your blood because she didn't say the part. Read Lincoln speech and see for yourself why he asked people to move forward. You should try harder perhaps

@billyhennessee7192 control over cotton exports could be the cause of the Civil war but not the Slavery OP subject) The North states indeed first abolished the Slavery. You can try research which ones of those 5 states were. Northern industrialists were not major cotton buyers. The Government of Obama / Democrats for sure seem to capitalize for 50× years of brainwashing. Feel free to check out the Inaugural Address (the OP topic) as Lincoln didn't dwell on the Slavery. A very wise leader for sure.
