Russia is very VERY fond of just throwing cannon fodder at their enemies, in the hope the enemy's ammo runs-out before Russia runs-out of people.. Worked, for a bit, in most old wars Russia started. But those were wars where wiping-out hundreds of soldiers with just a few grenades, or rockets wasn't possible, let alone from 45- to 80 km distance.
