  1. Cantonese is what gives Hong Kong it's identity. Switching to Mandarin makes communication easier, but I would argue it is the little differences that makes people thrive by forcing everyone to be more understanding to each other. HK is already a concrete heckhole, do you really want it to become another soulless Mainland satellite city where everyone is group thinking?
