@SolarisLunaran They were progressive until it actually involved them getting off their backsides and doing something for other people. They just chose not to pass the benefits down to the next generation. Any of us with parents that are helping us out should feel very fortunate that we're not being completely screwed over.

@Ehbfunbcc Whjfhbhjxf No, they didn't. After WWII, virtually all the other countries that previously had manufacturing capacity were set back to square one after the bombing campaigns. They grew up in a time where it was virtually impossible to fail if you were actually trying. These days, there are just fewer opportunities to go around as the Boomers shipped most of the decent jobs offshore and rewrote the tax code to allow the hoarding of ridiculous sums of money. Worker pay hasn't kept up with inflation or GDP growth in roughly 40 years.

@YanPagh One of the things that sucks most about being Gen X is seeing all the potential we created being pissed away by Boomers that were too greedy to share and Millenials that are too ignorant of history to realize what we've created. It's physically painful for me to see computing technology that's harder to use than when I started using computers nearly 40 years ago. And, no I'm not joking, we had to learn commands, but there weren't random UI changes just to change things.

Yep, it's kind of astonishing how little Gen X got to be the focus of things. I remember everything being "extreme" during the '90s and that was about it. We got one Presidency, and possibly just one as time goes forward, and he didn't do anything to help address any of this. Other than that, there hasn't been any point where we've gotten to be in charge as the Boomers have largely sucked the air out of the room and by the time they're gone, the Millenials will likely have the numbers to take charge.

@jasonvoorhees895 To be fair, if you'd left fewer of us dead, we might have gained relevance eventually.
