Responsible gun owners that aren't smart enough to know that a system having flaws is not a good reason to avoid trying shouldn't be allowed to own weapons. Regulations do work, there were clearly flaws that led to this that should be fixed. There's a special place in hell for people that own't even try because there might be flaws in the attempt. We do know that this sort of violence can be cut way down, it's unclear why he fell through the cracks, but there's no way of knowing how many other would be mass murderers are prevented from actually going through with it.

@jameslydon3314 This is true, but theoretically the rest of that should have qualified under the red flag law the same way that emergency restraining orders are typically given out in practically all cases. Yes, every once in a long while there might be one denied, but they're typically granted before the proceedings to try to ensure that everybody is alive to have proceedings.
