My mother had a student that claimed to have brain cancer and even shaved her head. It turned out that she was a big fat phony and was perfectly healthy. Which, I guess in a way is better than there being another cancer case, but is up there with the crappiest things you can lie about.

@Neithie Yes, it's important to be careful about things like that as there are a fair number of people who have limited mobility. But, if you're an influencer in particular, it's important to be honest about whether this is a permanent thing, and whether it's paralysis or something else, especially if you're fundraising off of it.

It's worth going to the various charity information sites as they commonly are required to have paperwork filed with the government. It's like that in the US, and I'd wager most of the developed world has rules in order to have that status.
