To a large extent yes, but in the case of I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, you have to consider what was going on at the time. Had the movie been made either earlier or later, it would have been far less offensive. The movie came out in 2007, but in the US, same sex marriage was in the process of being legalized starting in 2004, but it wouldn't be until 2015 that the process was completely finished. There's also the issue in that case, that much of it just isn't that funny to begin with. The lgbtqia+ community has a long history of laughing at gay jokes, it's just that they have to be funny and in some way clever. Watching a couple of straight actors playing straight characters taking advantage of something that took decades to earn is not likely to be taken well to begin with, but doing it during a period where there was a bunch of relevant court cases going on an many still couldn't get married is just rubbing salt in the wound.

One of the reasons why they got away with so much and still get away with so much is that they're perfectly fine going after everybody, including groups that they hold near and dear. It's a shame that Isaac Hayes turned out to be such a hypocrite.
