@cathybaldry7822 Around here we'll sometimes cut a strip around the trunk of we just want to kill it and let it dry out a bit before removing, or to leave standing for woodpeckers and other animals that need dead trees.

@savage22bolt32 they're tapped, that minimally disrupts the bark. You can do that with any tree, but some are more susceptible to infection afterwards than others.

@wulf7463 yes, yes grow at the fastest rate when young, and the carbon from the wood products will likely be it of circulation for decades.
