The laws aren't the problem, the problem is that a lot of those companies were able to engage in regulatory capture so that even though there are antitrust laws that bar the conduct, the people running the agencies have chosen to ignore the law. Google buying DoubleClick was a good example. Google should never have been allowed to buy out their nearest competitor in the online advertising space. Clayton already bans mergers that would put us in the position where a market is controlled by a handful of companies due to mergers rather than just naturally being so good that other competitors can't compete.
