Remembering is one thing, but just remembering doesn't really do you any good if there aren't viable alternatives. It's like voting in North Korea, even if you are willing to take the risk, there's little point in doing so as there aren't any other candidates that the state doesn't choose ahead of time.

@brianadams3189 The problem is that when people hit that level of impairment they often times forget the more recent stuff first. It's terrifying that we might wind up in a position where we're counting on somebody involved with the nuclear weapons to refuse to follow orders if he forgets that the cold war is over and accidentally starts watching war games or one of the various other cold war era movies. I do think that somebody in the chain of command will take the heat for refusing the issue the order, but it's not 100% if it gets passed that first person that's there with Biden if he makes the call. That being said, I don't expect it to come to that, but it is technically a risk of having a senile person in charge of the nukes.

It's not the people's fault, it's our leaders that have failed us. The DNC forced Hillary on us even though Bernie was more popular and could have beaten Trump. Then we get Biden forced on us when Bernie was more popular and could have beaten Trump. Now, 4 years later, they haven't promoted anybody to replace Biden as just about everybody knows that he's suffering from dementia, or something similar, and they don't have anybody available that can be swapped in to take on Trump. We may well wind up with Trump again and this time there's a real body of workers there to ensure that he gets up and running as quickly as possible and he has the SCOTUS giving him the right to do whatever he wants to do with his executive powers. And still the DNC is playing with fire and not giving the people a viable answer to Trumpism. It's hardly just the folks that are obsessed with the alleged Biden Crime family at this point that don't want him, a good chunk of the Democrats and Independents don't think he's up to it either. It's the same sort of thing that led to Trump winning in the first place, the DNC did not bother to consider just how unpopular HRC was even with her own base.

IMHO the people who have forgotten how bad Trump was are the DNC officials that should be pulling the plug from Biden's campaign and boosting somebody that can do the job. It was clear 4 years ago when he was using the pandemic to hide from the public while Bernie and Trump were campaigning that he didn't have it in him to do the job properly. I'm personally amazed that he's still alive given how bad his health is. For how much talk there was that people should use the 25th amendment to remove Trump, there's been a shocking lack of discussion about that when Biden clearly needs to be in a specialized retirement facility.

The difference is project 2017 didn't happen because most of the establishment underestimated how hated HRC was and how loved Trump was by a portion of the populace.

Absolutely, and even with that in mind, we can remember how terrible Trump was all we like, that doesn't mean that we have a viable alternative on our hands and at this point, I have no confidence that we will be given one. We're less than 4 months before the election and they aren't even floating Bernie, or somebody from that wing of the party. I'm not sure how a new entrant could win at this point if the people aren't already deeply familiar with their stance on the issues and their policies. I think the only possible person would be Bernie, and he's getting pretty old. It would probably be him running and then stepping down a couple years into it due to age and health so the VP could run. And that's not going to happen.

@DaleHartley People like you are why we got Trump the first time, why we're in this position now and why we probably will get trump again in the future. It's absolute madness that people keep rewarding the DNC for ignoring the will of the people. Biden is old enough that there should have been a real primary to demonstrate his ability to manage for another 4 years.
