@estieforu Ad hominem means “against the man,” and this type of fallacy is sometimes called name calling or the personal attack fallacy. This type of fallacy occurs when someone attacks the person instead of attacking his or her argument. Insulting someone who disagrees with you is a strategy for someone who feels like they are losing the argument. Hurling an insult is meant to hurt the feelings of the opponent who is then expected to give up.

Reschenthaler kept trying to frame his questions so Waters would denounce oppressive regimes that have been denounced for decades by the Democratic Party, but he failed miserably. But Trump loves him. That’s your leader,” Waters replied. Bringing up the killing fields of Cambodia didn't help him either. “Don’t ask me silly questions,” Waters fired back. “I told you, I’m a capitalist. I’m not like Donald Trump.
