"The U.S. Could Help Solve Its Poverty Problem with a Universal Basic Income. A universal basic income wouldn’t lead to adults leaving their jobs and could lift millions of children into a brighter future. With 11.6 percent of people in the U.S. living at or under the poverty line, this payment would benefit millions and save hundreds of billions of dollars by reducing the social costs of poverty." @WarHawk- Three things to consider. Currently, billions are spent to fund a variety of social service programs, such as SNAP. UBI would replace them. There are indirect costs to poverty, including but not limited to health care and policing. UBI would reduce those costs. Finally, the rich people who can afford to attend concerts could pay more taxes to fund UBI.

Trump's company was convicted of stealing taxpayer funds. You should want to know what Trump did with the $250 million that was donated to the Election Defense Fund. While in the presidency, Trump billed government departments for millions of dollars for use of his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida and other hotel properties. Trump's "charitable" works include the following: $20,000 from his foundation was used by to buy a portrait of himself to give to his wife Melania. More than a quarter of a million dollars from his charitable foundation was spent to cover legal fees incurred in lawsuits relating to his businesses. The largest gift from the foundation ($264,631), was used to repair a fountain on the grounds of the Plaza hotel.
