No more conspiracy theories and misinformation. We're full. While there has been an overreaction on both sides of the issue in terms of response, it is undeniable that the virus is real, the health measures have helped, and the safe and effective vaccines going to halt the pandemic.

@kev767 Indeed. The virus is not interested in political affiliation. There has been an over reaction on both sides. The result of that is a range from some who don't believe that the virus is real to some who have been unnecessarily disinfecting everything.

@MrBoratWOW Quanonsense.

@beeswax2182 Please explain the previous pandemics such as the prehistoric pandemic circa 3000 BC, the black death, and the Spanish flu to name a few. Viruses have been around longer than humans and will be here long after we're gone. This article from the History website is quite fascinating. "How 5 of History's Worst Pandemics Finally Ended. While some of the earliest pandemics faded by wiping out parts of the population, medical and public health initiatives were able to halt the spread of other diseases."

@beeswax2182 Your survival rate of 99.5 is misleading. Based on that number, that would mean that the death rate is .5%. A .5% death rate would result in 1.5 million deaths in the United States.

@krisgill3877 Quanonsense.

@krisgill3877 Don't be so lazy. I'm still waiting for you to share your peer reviewed research.

@krisgill3877 Whatever you think about the effectiveness of masks, the grocery clerk doesn't want you speaking moistly in their direction. They have rights as well. As for lockdowns, if you followed the health measures properly, we would not need them. I don't think that lockdowns are necessary or effective. Asking everyone nicely is clearly not effective. What is your solution?

Ok. Dr. Huffington. Claim that high PCR test sensitivity inflates COVID-19 cases wrongly conflates the issue of contagiousness with the presence of infection CLAIM “Dr. Anthony Fauci appeared to acknowledge that large numbers of positive COVID-19 cases may arise from oversensitive tests that pick up mere fragments of the virus rather than active, viable infections. If true, many patients may have been receiving false-positive test results” VERDICT DETAILS Incorrect: Regardless of whether a person tested positive with a high or low viral load, a positive test indicates that the person is or has been infected with the virus, which qualifies them as a COVID-19 case. The high number of COVID-19 cases reported in the U.S. is due to a large number of infected people, not the PCR test's sensitivity. PCR tests to detect viral diseases that have a high level of sensitivity can produce a positive result even if a person only harbors trace amounts of virus or non-infectious virus, like in recovering patients. Hence a positive test result from a PCR test without additional information about viral load cannot be used to determine whether an infected person should self-isolate or their contacts should be traced. Although a positive test alone does not provide information about whether the person is contagious, it can confirm whether the person is infected and is useful for monitoring the spread of the virus. It is therefore appropriate to count a person with a positive result as a COVID-19 case.
