You gotta pump those up, those are rookie numbers

So if the USN negotiated I'm the WNT to keep Washington but let Japan and Britain get a 3rd Nelson and a 3rd Nagato think it would have helped or hurt the US in WWII

You didn't say please

@kingswagii1607 basically with the hull form the standards had they wasn't going to get it fast enough to actually matter (Nagato speed or higher) They did put the machinery from the Colorado class USS Washington scrapped by WNT in the smaller Arizona in the 30s and it only boosted it to like 22.5 knots which is maybe enough speed to force a fight with a Fuso/Ise and not enough to run from anything. If you had a hull form to get to say 25 knots or more with a reasonable amount of extra power where you could force a fight with a Nagato and run from a Fuso/Ise I'm sure the USN would have been much more interested in looking into it.

@Captain_Seafort I'm not sure the exact specs to tell you armor thickness but the last time the US was looking at Battle cruisers was when the Wyoming class battleships got built instead. Since it's a instead of Wyoming it would presumably have 12" guns because the US not having 14" guns yet is why the Wyoming class was built instead of New York class being a year or two sooner. If the US built a 12" battle cruiser after Britain had the Lions and Japan the Kongos and Germany the Derrflingers it would hopefully be armored closer to Derrflinger than Invincible if they didn't want it to be obsolete on launch The big butterfly to me isn't how would it be as a battle cruiser it's how would it be as a carrier conversion because if you have a battle cruiser Wyoming as a disarmed AA training ship you can't tell me that that thing isn't getting a flat top once the treaty collapses

@galbert117 the most directly comparable ships to Colorado are the Nelson and Nagato classes. A lot of more modern treaty ships wheren't so much better on guns and armor they were just faster and had current fire control before the Colorado class got that in upgrades. For example the North Carolina class has less armor and one more of the same gun. South Dakota's inclined 12" belt is relatively comparable to 13.5" slab sided Colorado and only 1 more of the same gun. Bismarck, Litorrio, and Richlieu only have 15" guns and less armor.

@davidharner5865 well one V one absolutely but if you had like 4v1 or something that is a situation where you may want to run away
