It may have been possible to get 11" guns on a ship of Hipper's displacement (infact Deutschland doing it proves it can be done) but you wouldn't literally just put 11" turrets on the historical Hipper as Drach said. Also as to a Deutschland vs Hipper comparison remember that Hipper was a 32 knot or more ship and Deutschland was a 28ish knot ship. Look at a South Dakota vs Iowa to see how much extra machinery you need just to go faster without improving armament or armor

@fizzyb00t I don't think the Germans would have done quad 11s just because they would have had inferior penetration to the eventually planned 15s and why spend that much money and man hours on the planned temporary 11s to have 12 on each ship. That being said if we just assume I'm wrong and they do it anyway a 12 11s ship would be even more effective against cruisers and lighter than the historical 9 11s ships and also in a somewhat better position against Renown and Repulse which had thin enough armor for it to beat and with 12 guns quantity has it's own quality

@DELTATROOPER5555 well a 200ish thousand ton cruise ship would definitely make a heavy troop or cargo ship. They are also fairly fast by merchant standards.

@younoobskiller with it's main weakness being speed a situation where the enemy is coming to you like Dutch East indies is a more favorable situation than commerce raiding and hoping renown, Repulse, Hood, Dunkerque, and Strasbourg disappear it's probably more useful there. Also if you had 2 or more of them the Japanese couldn't send just one Kongo because its vulnerable to 11" fire.

@fizzyb00t well invincible is not a very good comparison as it had 6" of belt armor and only went like 25-26 knots. Scharnhorst had 13.8" of armor and went 30+ knots
