  1. The British often used German and Irish mercenaries to defend and expand their far-flung empire. The local Tories were making money from British interests so they fought against our patriots until they cut and ran and blended back into colonial villages and farms. Those families were never forgiven in many of these small towns and revenge lasted well up to the Civil War.

  2. So are they empty inside? Are the holes part of a closure? Was there anything found inside them? Are they called drums based on the shape or is there evidence of actual late Neolithic drums elsewhere that these resemble?

  3. I go with Occam's Razor - this was metal scrap to be recycled by a Roman metalsmith. People try so hard to attribute spiritual or magical significance to ancient debris.
