@diogorodrigues747 Hitler promissed the same, that annexation of Sudetenland in Czechia is his LAST territorial claim. And then he proceeded to annex entire Czechoslovakia, not just Sudetenland. And nobody did anything, because they were afraid of war. Then he used Czechoslovak heavy industry to further increase his military power and invade Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, France... and rest of continental Europe, and then several years later even his best ally and friend - Russia. Dictators never stop - they want EVERYTHING. (same way as billionaires never have "enough money" - they won't stop until they get all the money in the world ... same with dictators, they never stop, they want everything) Some people here are naive as children when they think Russia will stop. Even after Putin's death they will continue - that's what they have been always doing for hundreds of years and that's why they are the largest country in the world (by totally peaceful means of genocide and landgrab of course).

@ZrJiri Yes, but he won the presidency by 53%, where 47% voted strictly against him. I wouldn't call that a clear message. That's like when few years ago all media were talking about all of UK wating Brexit and that British people hate the EU... when the refferndum was just as close (52%). Slovakia is not pro-Russian. It is divided. (and it's not even about being pro-Russian, they just hate the West, hate USA, hate the EU, hate racial minorities, and hate anyone and everyone else who they blame for their life being miserable ... That's what Russian propaganda does over here - it doesn't promote Russia itself, it just makes you hate all the institutions and each other - to destabilize the country)

@katalinnemeth5871 The order to invade your country in 1956 came from Moscow. So don't hide behind USSR. The order to invade Czechoslovakia in 1968 came from Moscow. The order to invade Poland in 1980 came from Moscow. So it is Russia. Moscow controlled everything, just as British Empire controlled all their colonies, French Empire controlled all theirs, Belgian, Dutch, Spanish, Portugese controlled all their colonies. Same way Moscow (Russia) controlled all ther colonies inside USSR and ourside USSR (what they now call "sphere of influence" = ex-colonies). I hope you understand Hungary won't be spared when Russia starts to get back the territory they view as theirs. Ask your grandfathers and grandmothers how was life in Hungary in 1956.

@diomuda7903 The difference (50% support for Ukraine in Slovakia and 70% in Czechia) that we have completely unopposed Russian propaganda here and it has been going on for at least 10 years. It completely brainwashed large part of our population (including my elderly father, his second wife, and large parts of my extended family). There was no pro-Russian sentiment here 10 years ago or anti-Ukrainian. But AMERICAN social media are literally RECOMMENDING Russian propaganda in Slovak language every day all day long. If you mutiply it by 10+ years of influence operations, you get what Slovakia is today. ... I think Vrbetice helped you (Czechia) to wake up from this dream that Russia is tame now and you started to change your mindset. We had no such event and our corrupt politicians even used the Russian propaganda machine to get large amount of votes by parroting it infront of the brainwashed voters and thus reinforcing it and helping Russia even more.

@piuswanyaga8361 It's not OTHER PEOPLE's affairs. We have voluntarily joined the EU and NATO 20 years ago. I know, I was there and I voted for it. This means we have obligations and rules. Like when you apply for a job, you are admitted and then you start your job... and after 20 years you will tell your manager to "stop interfering in other people's affairs" by telling you what to do at the workplace and what not to do. We are the EU. We are part of it. We agreed to abide by its rules and obligations.

@katalinnemeth5871 If it was USSR (CCCP) and not Russia, then also the permanent seat at United Nations Security Council beongs to USSR (incliding Ukraine) and NOT Russia. You can't have it both ways - all the atrocities, murders and genocide are USSR, that's not Russia, but when it comes to all the good things and benefits, that was of course Moscow and thus Russia. USSR was a colonial empire and we were all their colonies who had no say in anything that happened (same as all other colonies of other empires in history). This makes me immensely angry, because I was forced to grow up in this and live the occupation every single day of my youth. You should have been here during the occupation, you would have changed your opinion very quickly.

@vm9464 Fico is not pro-Russian by ideology. Fico is 100% populist and a political opportunist. He was already "semi-retired" from politics when new government started investingating all his corruption and entire group of people around him. His only way to stop it was to win the elections and replace all the police chiefs, intelligence agency leadership, attorney generals and so on. He saw that Russian propaganda has been spreading in Slovakia in the past 10 years completely unopposed (nobody did anything against it) and that now 20-30% of the popularion are brainwashed by it and in total up to 50% are influenced by it. So he just switched to anti-West and pro-Russian rhetorics just like that to get all the free votes from these people brainwashed by Russian propaganda. And it worked. He won, and stopped the investigations and is currently pushing anti-democratic reforms (to save his own ass from prosecution). But he is not ideologically pro-Russian (his only ideology is money and power, nothing else). He helped Slovakia integrate into EU 20 years ago and to switch our currency to EUR and a lot of other pro-EU reforms. He always had pro-EU rhetorics (because it suited him). His voters have memory of a gold-fish, so they forgot all these things. ... So he may veto help for Ukraine, or he may not ... depends what EU offers him personally. (I just hope someone from the West bribes him, so we can avoid this embarassment on the global stage and can help your country defend against Russia)

During partitioning after first world war, the western allies that won the war would not grant independence to countries that were too small. Condition was that Czechia and Slovakia join into one country to be allowed to exist. And if you are trying to create bad blood between Czechs and Slovaks you will fail. We are brothers and sisters. Nobody here hates the Czechs, that's unthinkable.

@piuswanyaga8361 I do respect their vote - I am not protesting for Fico to resign as a prime minister or Pellegrini to not become the president. They were legally voted in and I do not question validity of the election process itself. But we are part of a superstructure (the EU) and there are EU laws and rules that superseed local Slovak laws. This is what we agreed un when we voted and applied to enter the EU structure. Voluntarily and after a public vote. So Fico can create all the laws he wants that do not go against EU regulations and norms, but not the ones that breach it - like judicial reform that would lead to influence of judicial power by exectuve power and so on (anti-democratic and anti-justice laws only). We are not talking about all the other laws that are in jurisdiction of Slovakia itself. I respect that we lost the election and Fico is rightful prime minister. But I will not watch my country being pushed away from full 100% democracy toward mild authoritarianism (slippery slope, a classic one from history books).

@mybestsongs2055 You very obviously don't watch Russian state TV. I do, every week. Russia is non-stop talking about invading Estonia, Latvia, Lithuaina (which means NATO, which means Slovakia will have to send everything to defend them, because we promised, gave them our word and signed it - our word means something and when we promise military alliance to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, we WILL defend them). Also 3x per year Russian state TV mentions nuking Slovakia (I know, it's nothing compared to Poland and France and the UK, but still - we are obviously military target for Russia and what they consider as their sphere of influence = ex-colony). So this is what is a threat to Slovakia if Ukraine loses the war.

@katalinnemeth5871 Russians killed my family and took everything we had and sent my grandfather and his siblings into labor camps. If you call this "bias" then yes, I have "bias".
