Wait a minute are you telling me Islam is as much a descendent of the Roman empire as the Christian one is?

The only empire to ever rise once but fall twice

@RememberTheElephant Oldest name is Asia minor and most of the names we use aren't actually corruptions of local names as those names would often come from within the language roots which described something specific. Just harder to see with English since it has so much Greek and Latin influence from medieval France.

@Quickshot0 The central premise here is incorrect in the idea that things turned out significantly worse for several centuries. It didn't. In fact the middle ages was a time of great progress and one which was occurring under the catholic church. It had average height and life expectancy increase compared to the Roman empire, saw increases in technology and knowledge, and set the foundation for the ideas of the enlightenment. The Eastern Romans also didn't really decline for a fair few centuries until basically the perfect storm finally brewed and those Turkish migrants were finally able to take Constantinople after they were greatly weakened by yet another civil war and had their capital sacked by other Christians. At that point it's more of a surprise that they stayed as long as they did. Finally the idea that scientists which drive progress were less Than religious is one which is false in the first place as the entire idea came from the religious notion that doing so would help better understand God. Its practice was one which was funded and encouraged by the church itself in doing so for most of history until the church was so weakened in the 19th century as to make it no longer a significant player in European politics. And it's from the 19th century that we get many of our modern industrial ideas and norms from given that it was the start of the industrial revolution, however there was nothing which would stop it from having happened under church guidance.

Well the reason for that is that the Great Powers have just not been fighting so that form of warfare has been unnecessary even though it in real terms is an extension of that form of warfare.

I find it ironic how modern feminism in its attempt to liberate women has disrespected a woman's ability to have kids or be a stabilizing force in the home in favor of encouragement to simply wok like the men in an attempt to "feel powerful" and likely shapes much of our current situation. I have to wonder if the industrial revolution really did lower the pressure to have kids or if it was just a consequence of the society around it to cause the population to be unwilling to have them

I think being a bit liberal here, he mixed up Etruscan and Roman in that position but didn't catch it. Given his editing, I'd imagine it.
