@animal16365 which are useful in a close-range ambush, not so useful in this situation.

Even with prop aircraft the balance would still be hilariously in favour of airpower. Range is a massive force multiplier.

@AdlerGordon Arguably you could say the entire dreadnought concept was a waste of money, but I feel that may be taking things too far. Remember that until the 1930s there wasn't any other warship that could be used for sea control.

@AdlerGordon I mean, history wouldn't change if battleships didn't exist, but until the 1930s people can be excused for not knowing this.

@mememetal6631 the issue being that that goes both ways; in a hypothetical Y vs. I battle neither ship is armoured against the other (or their own guns for that matter) at any sort of reasonable ranges, and Iowa's advantage has more to do with speed and (in low visibility) FC radar.

Ooh thay would be an interesting fight if both sides have working ammo. The Italians are faster and pack more firepower, but the British ship probably is a bit more durable.
