@lllordllloyd Lack of fuel for training might have been a factor there.

@rossmcgregor7938 The armour layout. Everyone but Germany had switched over to AoN by then because it was not only better protection at long ranges, but also offered thicker belt armour for the same weight and more reserve buoyancy.

@miamijules2149 To clean up the surface forces after the carriers took out the US carriers....except that there wouldn’t have been much to clean up after that point, so it was pointless. As for why they stayed so far back? So the USN wouldn’t be scared off.

For parts of Shattered Sword that contradicts other well-researched works like Kaigun (especially considering there are some highly inaccurate pages on the combinedfleet.com website), which author do you tend to go with and why?

@frankbarnwell____ Which also shows that bad weather is nowhere near the disadvantage for carriers as often assumed (granted, American and Japanese carriers would do worse in such weather)
