  1. I just did a google and NATO was very much active in former Yugoslavia. They performed operation Allied Force (Also known as operation Noble Anvil in the US) and between 24th of March and the 10th of June 1999 NATO pilots flew over 38.000 combat missions. Only after this did the UN deploy peace keepers.
