If you honestly think this , then you either didn’t watch the whole video - or you didn’t understand it.

You’re forgetting that you can leverage stocks as well

Where in this video did he say not to invest in real estate? He was detailing the costs to investing in a home that need to be considered. There’s nothing wrong with that. Also why would you be out hundreds of thousands of dollars ? How did you arrive at this figure? Did you account for the stock market rising approx 35 percent during this period that would have been an opportunity cost had you invested those funds in real estate ? Did you account for taxes , interest costs and maintenance and repair - all of which make investing in real estate much more expensive than equities ? If you didn’t account for those perhaps you could benefit from watching the video again.

@infantryhawk I’m just curious where you got your ‘hundreds of thousands of dollars ‘ from - and whether you accounted for all the costs? As you said it’s purely mathematical. How do you know they would have been better off investing in real estate? You’re just stating it as fact when it’s not that clear. ‘With the idea in mind that investing is about maximising profits’ - but that’s not what this video is about nor is that the definition of investing used on this channel. So why use that definition to make a point ?

@infantryhawk I’m struggling to find evidence online that real estate has outperformed equities since this video was released. What are you using as a reference for real estate performance?

The S&P 500 destroyed that. Have to consider things like maintenance costs , closing costs , insurance etc when you’re considering property return as well. Just because the prices have gone up by 150% doesn’t mean that’s what you would have earned as a property investor. The costs for investing in stocks are a lot smaller.
