  3.  @muhammadnizamuddin2084  Gold and Silver coin as money were heavy and inconvenient to carry around so banks would take them as deposits and then issue paper certificates of deposits. From 1945 until 1973 the dollar in world trade was pegged at $32 an ounce.

  4.  @muhammadnizamuddin2084  How do you figure that its tied to the price of oil? The OPEC countries prefer dollars for oil because of the US status as the worlds largest economy and its military power the dollar is NOT pegged to oil like Gold was.
