@absboodoo It was the only way the Stalinist leadership of the Soviet Union could possible take. The most corrupt elements became the new capitalist oligarchy. Now Putin the old Secret police spy wants to be a new CZAR. When Lenin and Trotsky government was in power the Soviet Union was a federation of Socialist states with recognition of the rights for national minority culture with in them. Stalin reversed the Communist course of Lenin and Trotsky and destroyed the original party during with the Moscow Trials of the 1930's and the senseless murder purges that followed.

@sardinesinacan1968 It was Lenin who first called for Stalin's removal from his post as General Secretary. Then Trotsky tried to reverse the course the newly rising Stalinist bureaucracy would take. He was expelled from the party in 1928 and deported from the Soviet Union in 1929. Stalin would go on to murder the Party Lenin had built and his faction lead all the defeats for Socialist revolutions right up to the NAZI invasion.

@pathutchison7688 Had the Bolsheviks not overthrown the provisional government with the Soviets than Kornilov would have drown the revolution in blood. The Tsar was held as a prisoner of the civil war as the whites wanted to restore him to the thrown only when that became a possibility where the CZAR was being held prisoner did the Bolshevik Central Government agree to the soldier demands that the CZAR and his family be executed rather than allow him to be used as a rallying symbol for the cause of the counter revolution. The Gov't of Oliver Cromwell did NOT execute the son of English King Charles and he was placed back on the thrown by the English counter revolution that defeated the Commonwealth. Cromwell's body and the other dead commissioners were dug up and executed posthumously by Charles II. Commissar of Military and Naval Affairs Leon Trotsky built the Red Army which would go on to defeat 14 Imperialist Armies who invaded including the Democratic Imperialist of the US/UK. In the US Eugene Debs had be sent to prison by Wilson who gave J Edgar Hoover and AG Palmer his marching orders in the first Red Scare. It failed to point the finger at the real cause which was the rise of Stalin and the murder of Lenin's party. As Trotsky had written years ago it was impossible for the bureaucracy to self reform. It could only be overthrown. Gorbachev himself was promoted because of the praise he wrote for the Greatest Leader of Mankind Joeshp Stalin. Stalin whom Lenin had been the first to call for the removal.of him from his post as General Secretary.
