  1. What is a species. The members of a species can all reproduce successfully with each other. Dogs are an example of humans breeding animals for specific traits. The idea of Darwin of natural selection is that the origin of the species come from nature doing the natural selection instead of us doing the breeding. So a crop like corn was grown by native American people and it is one which can't reproduce without human intervention in planting. It is theorized that ancient people bred it from a grain like plant. The idea of divergence of species is that groups of the same species get isolated from each other and the "magic" of natural selection occurs. This is theorised to play out in human skin color because a dark skin is less susceptible to skin cancer from the sun while a light skin can produce more vitamin D. The key thing that make the human different than the animals is we use fire to cook which helps digestion and allows for a more varied diet. We have a voice box to make sounds for communication. We are social animals who live in groups. Our hands our shaped by the need to labor. Our bodies are made from long periods of physical activity with sweat glands to cool allows us to cool off instead of overheating which we can use our advantage when a group of hunters chase a wild animal around until it becomes overheated.. What did a group of hunter gatherers do afterwards in their spare time? They created culture from which all science art math and even religion springs. Agriculture the deliberate raising of animals and plants for human use creates a suplus and the beginning of human civilization. It's not scarce resources that plague us because when have we not found more ways to use what we already have? Rather it's the uneven distribution and control over the productive forces.
