The both wanted the other Europeans colonies. Japan took what was French, Dutch and British. Had Germany defeated Britain they n doubt would have tried to take British and French colonies. In the end the colonial powers were weaken such that they would face revolutions though out the colonial world. The US cried about losing China. .

Under orders from Moscow the Stalinist Communist Party joined in supporting FDR during the war becoming the best strike breakers Stalinist ideology could create. Once their German and Japanese Imperialist competition was defeated the US/UK turned on Stalin in the cold war preparing for an Imperialist holy war against communism. The failed objective of the Korean war left the Imperialist world divided on how best to deal with Soviet Union, China and the rest of the workers states.

@badofi There are plenty of Bourgeois scholars who decry the mistakes the bourgeois have made after the fact. Most fail to understand that it is the very economic and exploitative nature of capitalism that drives them into Imperialist wars of world conquest.

Hitler is just going to let a small group of people on an Island and the French whom he hated control their own Empires? The European ruling classes ALL hated and feared the Soviet Union because when the Revolution in Germany failed Lenin and the Bolsheviks turned towards freedom for the colonial peoples. The held the 1920 Congress of the Peoples of the East and were sponsoring Communist Parties among nations that never had a Social Democratic Party like China. He had declared war on Imperialism itself.

@hq3473 Capitalism always needs new markets and resources to exploit. Like the US the Japaneses were late getting into the game so to speak but when they did they went all out in their area of the world. They would go to war with the CZAR in 1905 and defeat the Russian Navy.
