@Chadwickyboy The reason this is surprising especially to Americans is they been taught that the capitalists are following a set of rules instead of making the rules through their government. Naturally if your sitting at the commanding heights of American capitalism when things go south who are you going to call? Ghostbusters? NO!!! Your going to call the head of the ruling class government in Washington and work out a plan. After meetings and discussion hay here's a plan let's have the Federal Reserve Bank buy up all the worthless junk bonds and give us real federal reserve notes (US money) for them. We'll call it quantitative easing rather than a suckers buyout.

@LaminarSound With the Federal Reserve Act in 1913 the capitalists could begin the printing of all the money they need. They are no longer limited by the amount of gold bullion in government possession or at the Federal Reserve's NYC underground vaults. The problem for them now is they've shut down large sections of the economy and those jobs in small business are always the first to go in any economic crisis. It then takes years to recover because the capitalist demand to be shown profits just ahead in any business plan presented to the banks. If they had a vaccine tomorrow morning they'd have all kinds of problems delivering it because the big healthcare businesses would be demanding fiture profits ahead with government guarantees.
3
@LaminarSound Your right "..Government intervention emphasizes and exacerbates that very problem..." Because the capitalist use their state to defend their rule. Trump said 10,000 factories closed on Obama's watch. You don't think those who worked in the those 10,000 factories were happy about losing their jobs? How many workers would vote to close down the factory so production can be moved elsewhere for cheaper labor or because the economy went into another capitalist caused crisis.
2
@LaminarSound "...capitalists don’t print money..." as individuals that's correct but as a class they control the printing of money though their state and government. US Treasury also plays a role in adding money to the total currency in circulation. They issue bonds printed by the Bureau of Printing and Engraving. What they can't sell on the open market the Federal reserve buys with money printed back at Bureau of Printing and Engraving. They also collect taxes that can be paid in US dollars only. They are also custodians of various Federal Trust Funds.

@LaminarSound Seems to be working in Cuba despite all kinds of US sponsored sabotage. Oh sure next week it will all be gone!! Which is what has been said since 1959. After the Death of Comrade Cecilia Sanchez of Cancer. US newspapers printed the "real news" that actually she was killed during a shootout between Fidel and his brother Raul and Raul had been wounded. No lie is too big! No story is too false! about Cuba not to be printed in the US. The latest hasTrump all but closing the Embassy after reports of injury to Embassy staff of completely unknown origin. .
2
@LaminarSound The US Gov't prohibits travel and spending money in Cuba by US citizens without US Gov't approval. US Retirees can't go their and get their SS Checks there. Yes the US Gov't has an entry waiting list and is deporting undocumented Cuban's. Those attempting entry from Mexico must wait in Mexico for permission to enter. Cuba only has population of 11 million how could they absorb 5 million immigrants? You should ask Trump or Marco Rubio about the secret weapon used against US Diplomats. Ask about the secret audio laser weapon.
2
@swingingfordearlife Free market capitalism died long ago replaced by the wedding of industrial monopoly capitalism, finance capitalism and then Imperialism the export and control of capital in the colonial world leading to the trade war that produced world war one and an even bigger Imperialist slaughter world war two.
2
@williamrodriguez4311 No capitalism always has a stock market in any country developed enough to have one. You have to have at least some capitalism to have a working class in order to make a socialist revolution. Once you have crossed the bridge to start socialism the end of the stock market is one of the first signs you are no longer living in a capitalist country.
2
@williamrodriguez4311 The end of the stock market is not the same as a market collapse. Real capitalists are usually libertarians who worship at the altar of Ayn Rand.with "Capitalism the Unknown Ideal". The reason it's unknown is because what is described is completely impossible. You can put them into the bag with various utopian socialists and then you have a bag of completely worthless idealists.
2
@williamrodriguez4311 Rand herself testifies to the difference in the early Soviet Union compared to the latter under Stalin. She gets an education not possible for women in Russia under the czar and her friend Kerensky. She complains about not being able to leave but does in 1926 despite the American Red Scare following WW1 and the US not even recognizing the Soviet Government until 1930 but being one of the invading forces during the civil war.. She and her dad leave for the white side of the civil war yet go unpunished after the whites are defeated. She says her dads pharmacy in Petrograd is taken by the bolsheviks. Well when you left for the white side during the civil war did you think the medicine in your store would be allowed to just sit on shelves? Her complaint that bourgeois students were purged from the University but International students helped reverse that decision. That is a sign that the Soviet system was working at the time since the decision was reversed.
2
@williamrodriguez4311 Well if your interested I suggest TheMilitant.com newspaper and PathfinderPress.com I try not to talk at people but I do have opinions about things some of which can be very sharp and I will defend them.
2
@haroldgodwinson832 Well than why the need for Trump to do anything about the coronavirus pandemic? Should he just step aside and let the free market do its job? Why have gov't collect taxes to pay for roads when trumpikes companies could be both profiting and routinely going bankrupt with empty toll booths. Think about the increased efficiency when work stops on private turnpikes that can't pay their maintenance costs and bankruptcy courts intervene.
1
@haroldgodwinson832 The real test of any kind of political economy is in a state of war. Stalin's Soviet Union defeated Capitalist Germany. If the capitalist were against wealth destruction than they wouldn't have gone to war with each other. Starting with WW1. With the end of world war two the British and French Empires were finished. Mao would throw out all the foreign Imperialists and defeated General Chang who was backed by the US. The US lost wars in Korea and Vietnam. A new communist leadership came forth in Cuba defeating the US with a minimal loss of life only 90 miles away. The cold war ended without a US Military victory over China and the Russian Federation. Instead they are the US's new Imperialist competition. Capitalism has not been able to end the class struggle despite wishful thinking about the "End of History" in 1991. The counterfeit communists in China and Russia along with Mao's and Stalin's theories of Socialism in one Country, New Democracy, the Popular Front against Fascism don't have the support of a Stalinist Regime. When new revolutionary leaderships develop the Stainists won't have the power to confuse and sell them out that they had prior to 1991. Nor will the Imperialist have the ability to advance their interests through these sellouts like the Nixon/Kissinger did at the end of the Vietnam.
1
@haroldgodwinson832 Lend Lease went from the US to the UK and Soviet Union. The UK got 3 times what the Soviets did. One of the founders of the American Conservative movement was a former Trotskyist James Burnham. Bill Buckley had nothing but praise for Burnham. Using your thinking methods Conservatism is also a branch of Communism.
1
@haroldgodwinson832 "How Big Business bailed out the NAZI's" So the liberals at the Brennan center are really communists also? https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/analysis-opinion/how-big-business-bailed-out-nazis
1
@haroldgodwinson832 Concentration camps for the EATERS. Everyone who couldn't fit into a designated place in NAZI Germany was sent to the concentration camps. Fascism isn't the same as ordinary capitalist parties. it has a thug component. They are used first and foremost against the communists and then any organizations that could be a source of political opposition. The Italian fascists started with murdering elected Social Democratic Mayors in Italy. We have had American Fascists. The KKK, the Silvershirts, American NAZI's. Mein Kampf is about German nationalism, anti internationalism and anti Marxism and remember the Social Democrats were still claiming to be Marxists at the time.
1
@haroldgodwinson832 Hitler's words from Mein Kampf on The Trade Union Problem. "The movement and the nation can derive advantage from a National Socialist trade unionist organization only if the latter be so thoroughly inspired by National Socialist ideas that it runs no danger of falling into step behind the Marxist movement. For a National Socialist Trades Union which would consider itself only as a competitor against the Marxist unions would be worse than none. It must declare war against the Marxist Trades Union, not only as an organization but, above all, as an idea. It must declare itself hostile to the idea of class and class warfare and, in place of this, it must declare itself as the defender of the various occupational and professional interests of the German people."
1
@haroldgodwinson832 No evidence that trade unions were to be prohibited from the writings of Marx, Engles, Lenin, Trotsky, or Fidel Castro. Despite all the lies told not a single innocent person has ever been executed in Cuba since the revolution. No not 1000, Not 100, Not 10, Not 1. None and you can not find a single case of a George Floyd in Revolutionary Cuba unlike in the US and Brazil were Black and Working Class life is snuffed out with police impunity. A US Ally Saudi Arabia murders a US Journalist in its Turkish Embassy and the US President issues an apology for the Royal family saying how good it is that they are buying US Weapons and creating jobs. Well Why not go for bigger bone saw and sulfuric acid contracts? In fact why not ship them direct to the Saudi Embassy in Washington, DC from the White House Basement like Oliver North.
1
@haroldgodwinson832 Well why did the so called Quilt of Cuban Genocide disappear? Was it too cold in Jersey? Or was it because the people on it died of natural causes or were still alive? I have challenged others so far I have one claim concerning an incident where the Peruvian Embassy in Cuba was taken over by heavily armed men. The challenger claimed it couldn't be true because of access controls on weapons. But the article was carried uncritically by the AP as heavily armed men. Another claimed the American Comandante Morgan was unjustly executed yet he admitted to arming rebels in the Escambray mountains after the revolution. Another claimed Alpha 66. They are a US sponsored terror group in Miami.

@ancientmaverick13 Basically this guy is wrong. People lived in collective societies not trading societies at the beginning of our species. No one had a fire going where a guy with a deer just dropped by. It makes no sense to begin with because why start a fire unless you first need heat or to cook. Hunting was done first in groups so as to chase the animal around util heat stroke took over. Our bodies are made to be natural marathon runners with sweat glands for heat loss. We don't get heat stroke as long as we are well hydrated. We sweat and the water on our skin evaporates taking away the heat produced by the bodies energy needs. Animals with fur may be able to out sprint us but not out run us because they lack sweat glands. .

@IRGhost0 If all a bank has is auto loans, mortgages, and middle class depositors then a small bank failure will have little impact. A bank failure for a other business accounts will create financial chaos. Money for wages, for purchases, and from sales just disappears.
1
@IRGhost0 No the solution is to have a planned economy and eliminating private profit driven chaos.
1
@IRGhost0 Every major conflict with Cuba has been a loss for the US. Want to see the most backward US Imperialist dominated country in the Western Hemisphere? Haiti. Cuba takes in Haitian refugees that arrive on their shores. For the US refugees are a big problem despite the size of the country. The US capitalist have about 35% percent of the productive capacity sitting still in empty factory building and railroad spurs filled with Diesel Electric engines yet they have no jobs.
1
@IRGhost0 Well they invest in making things sold to end users. Like LED's and hotel spaces for recreation. That enables them to get around trade barriers created by the US. The also have a Pharmaceutical R&D and manufacturing Industry. A Cuban drug for lung cancer is undergoing clinical trials in the US.
1
@FairsleyDifference Equal Opportunity and Equal outcome. Like when a Young Bill Gates could easily pay his speeding tickets with just a few hundred dollars while everyone else was basically soaked for speeding tickets. Someone had to tell Bill he could not continue spending his money that way.
1
@JCPRuckus The answer is a socialist revolution like the 1959 revolution in Cuba lead by Fidel Castro and the 26th of July movement.
1
@jeffery allen That's also why you can't get to socialism by using only the capitalist methods of monetary incentives. Those who think that the Capitalist won the cold war are wrong. The US's Reagan and UK's Thatcher were left with claiming a success that they had nothing to do with. The Eastern European workers took down the privileged labor aristocracy but they didn't have a new political party to take the planned economy and reorganized it. Instead things just decayed back into capitalism with some help from Milton Freeman and the ultimately drunk and corrupt Boris Yeltsin
1
@jeffery allen Well no life isn't a zero sum game. 50,000 years ago our ancestors were living in the African Savanna. We covered the world even though we lost contact with each other. Its only been about 500 years since Asia Europe and Africa knew about North and South America.
1
@jeffery allen They may be finite but they are also recyclable. We are all hit with the coronavirus this is going to create a major change for the whole world. I don't what that will be but I can feel it my bones. Before we go we leave something behind just what that is most of us will never know. A few days earlier I had a 135 bpm resting heart rate. Well I was back home later that night and I'm still here. How long? Who knows? I worry about my wife and what will happen to her once I'm gone.
1
@LaminarSound The reason the state has to keep getting bigger with capitalism is to control greed and blunt the class struggle. The underly irreconcilable conflict of class interests caused the rise of the regulator state. Why? because the workers can not be trusted to protect their own rights and safety both on and off the job. If the working people get these powers whats to stop us from taking over the whole shebang?
1
@LaminarSound "Jobs coming back with a demand and incentive for them." Sure let's just keep playing the game where to get more job promises we giveaway everything else away. The capitalist are always looking for a demand before they do anything and they like all kinds of incentives even better. Tell us just how many incentives do these slave driving capitalist need? After all with everything owned by limited liability corporations why should act responsibly?
1
@jackie-sh5of That's because social democracy is one where social democratic traitors run the capitalist state for mere tabe crumbs. They can not solve the problems of capitalism anymore then voting for Imperailist war credits as the did in 1914.
1
@jakejake7289 The way to socialism is through the class struggle. Equality isn't achieved by a welfare system but by uniting the workers in a fight for state power. Communism is not a doctrine with its high priests. Instead it's a movement which has absorbed the continuity of the class struggle on its way to power. Its goal is to take control of the world market out of the hands of the national exploiting classes. Instead putting it firmly in the hands of the world proletariat.
1
@johnnywesley7695 We don't have unlimited immigration to begin with. We have immigrants without proper working papers. We need an amnesty program for all current immigrants along with a fight to rebuild union power and a labor party independent of the two parties to battle the capitalist in the political venue. The system we have now can't even educate enough doctors. Military spending includes educating engineers and scientists for the war machine. These same engineers and scientists could be educated as doctors with better health that increases your ability to work. Almost every dollar spent on defense is money thrown down a rat hole. When Trump announces record unemployment figures he fails to tell you how many people have left the workforce. When you hear a claim of it costing $9,400 per person the real question is who is paying and what services are being provided.
1
@johnnywesley7695 I would think that conservative 'limited government' supporters would like family (chain) migration because the family takes most of the responsibility not the government for the new immigrants sucess. Like sex and bathroom politics conservatives want not limited government but more government control of personal lives. For the conservative immigration should be better controlled through temporary rubber stamp work visas. That way you can bring 'em in for cheap labor and through them out to save on social costs.
1
@johnnywesley7695 Cuba is a small island country. They have 10,000 foreign medical students including some from the US all studying at no direct cost to the student. In the US medicine is rationed. Bureaucratism corruption and incompetence are all part of the high cost of US for profit medicine.
1
@johnnywesley7695 That's an admission that American capitalism profit system is dysfunctional. The system can not absorb all the available labor here so it must send immigrant workers back to the conditions imposed by the Capitalist Empire outside of the US capitalist homeland.
1
@MENDLER1 Stalin began what Yeltsin and Gorbachev would complete. A return to capitalism first by murder of the old Bolsheviks in the 1936 to 1938 frame up purge trials and finished with "shock therapy".
1
danielgarrison91 A welfare state is a capitalist state. Capitalist States defend capitalism.
1
Smoke Tree The problem isn't socialism. Its capitalism. There would have been no WW1 if capitalism wasn't in crisis. The bolsheviks would have remained a small group of theorists if the CZAR wasn't doing what the rich do best (absolutely nothing worth while). The Russian Czar was the wealthiest man in the world while those in his empire suffered the privations of war and backwardness. You thought you had won after 1991. You didn't because you can not escape the crisis's created by capitalism. The crisis of 2000, 2008, and 2020 show that capitalism has nothing but continued economic crisis for the masses of working people. You also are seeing the rivalry developing among the different national capitalist classes. The UK v.the EU. The US v. China. All of this rivalry will lead to trade war because the of the crisis of overproduction. World capitalism can produce more that can be sold for a profit. Trade war can only lead to real war. World socialism is the only solution to the ever greater crisis of world capitalism.
1
@JoriMikke78 A capitalist state protects private property. This is why it can not be reformed but instead must be crushed in a socialist revolution. This is why Fidel Castro rejected the Miami pact that would reintegrate Batista's police torturers into a compromised state before the actual revolutions victory. All talk of statism is meaningless drivel without understanding what kind of property the state defends.
