  1. It was the British Balfour Declaration written by Lord Balfour. After the Second World War American President Truman insisted that Palestine take in 100, 000 Jews including Holocaust survivors immediately . Britain drew up the “White Paper” which said that Palestine was only to take 75,000 Jews over five years to appease the Arabs. President Truman was angry and put pressure on Britain to rip up the white paper and hand everything over to the UN to decide the fate of Palestine. Truman got his wish and 100.000 were immediately allowed into Israel. Then the UN in 1947 created Israel and the rest is history.
