  1. Voters themselves in the US have consistently voted against their own interests. "Median voter" is simply not a thing in the US, you have the vote because of their own identity, because of identity politics or because of traditional geographic voting. And then there are actual politically literate voters that vote for their self-interest. You'd be surprised at how many US voters cannot coherently explain a single issue and the position they're voting for.

  2. The US deserves everything they've voted for. It's effectively "Brexit II" if Trump implements his economic and immigrant policies. Man, those Anglo two-party systems sure are great, eh? Good thing too. Fuck em. They need to learn a bit of empathy and humility. ...and some, I assume, are good people...

  3.  @jessvagnar4957  It might be disagreeable to you, but that doesn't make it inherently wrong. Yes, there are voters of all shapes and sizes, but when people specifically say they have voted for tariffs and cannot explain to an interviewer what that is, it tells me that these voters have no clue and are simply following "the group" (family, race, religion, favourite podcaster etc). Other examples are people with illegal migrant friends and family that believe that it's only the criminal illegal migrants that will be forcibly deported. Really? According to whom exactly? People dependent on ACA voting for the party that have actively said abolishing it is the first thing on their agenda. Mainly because they don't fucking know that Obamacare and the ACA are one and the same (!). I mean, come on... This is a horribly dangerous state of affairs for a democracy as politicians, corporations and the media now have a vested interest in keeping people misinformed and undereducated to maintain their power base. It's the recipe for a propagandistic dystopian kleptocracy, but still fully convincing the average citizen that they have power and that it's the best country on Earth. It really fucking isn't on like 37 out of 40 parameters.

  4. Wrong. Leftist can be for a regulated market and for a "more extreme" distribution of wealth. What you're describing is actual communist parties, which do exist, but are minute.
