  1. Ian adopts the US state department assessment that china tried to cover up human to human transmission. But if you look back at the actual events, the fact that there was a long transmission period of 14 days, then unknown, they only recorded what they observed. Medical personnel didn't show symptoms after being in contact. But when they started getting sick then WHO was advised. Read a very good article by andreas canetti called the flying pangolin in unz.com which looks comprehensively at all the events and information from each of the relevant countries. Very readable.

  2. Kevin now works for asia society, a US organisation. So he has to toe the line with the official us narrative on any geopolitical situation. There is the pressure on end of careers if they dare speak freely.

  3.  @supremacy2040  that is your opinion on Kevin. I follow a lot of other researchers, academics in Asia, not necessarily from China. I don't mind if Kevin gives a hard line on china provided it is based on facts or if he explains his reasoning. Like who wants to just listen to a nice story about china if he is just there to spin and it isn't true? We just want the truth based on facts. He should know there are 2 accounts of the border issue. He should explain what china did wrong instead of just agreeing with Ian who just gets his views from msm. And anyone who follows geopolitical events closely knows that msm reports a lot of lies or half truths so cannot be relied upon anymore.

Though I note that a lot of the negative stories of china are created by western sources and the US uses and funds organisations like the NED to create division and hatred in other countries. If the US was to focus on fixing its internal divisions and unite people, as a democratic leader, it would set up a good example for all. In the past many people looked up to America and admired it for many reasons. But it has turned into something that we and many no longer admire or aspire to be. If US doesn't practice what it preaches, how can we speak well of it?

  5. Despite the US-indian version of the border conflict story continously being pushed, many are not fooled. That is because we have had enough of the lies against china and woken up to how they try to shape opinion using false stories.

But even though many haven't heard of Assange or Snowden or may have heard but haven't bothered to enlighten themselves with the details, there is now more information available on them than before. Sometimes people come late to the party so to speak. But once their eyes are opened to the truth it becomes difficult to trust the US government ever again.

It was interesting that everyone saw the protests and riots in hk but they never got the support from ordinary people internationally even though western msm gave it very good coverage and there was a coordinated promotion on social media. Yet as soon as the protests and riots for George Floyd happened, every city in the US and around the world joined in supporting them.

  17. China has settled borders with all 16 neighbours except India and Bhutan. It would have settled with Bhutan except that India sees itself as Bhutan's big brother so that gets in the way. India has current border issues with China, Pakistan and Nepal. India has been building on china's side of the lac. It does the encroaching hoping to get away with it but China will not allow it to be so easy for them to sneak through.

  20. Both sides have their own versions of the story. The majority of the borders with China are settled except india and Bhutan. India has so far stopped Bhutan from setting but just recently Bhutan has stepped away from India's hold and have signed a mou with China to settle their border disputes.

  23. UN has already looked into the Uighur situation. It is all overblown by the western media. I am sure that Americans are not concerned about the human rights of people. If they were, they would not sanction countries and cause starvation and loss of livlihoods in countries such as Iraq, iran, Libya and Venezuela. Many young children died as a result of US actions.

That is why China is not providing stimulus and neither should other countries be pumping money more money and creating debt for future generations. The financial system should be allowed to reset, take the losses now and build a more sustainable system.

  36. It's very simple. Ukraine does not have the financial means, technical know-how or the specialist personnel to carry out something this complicated. If they had already been relying on the west to supply them with weapons and money to fight Russia, there is no way in the world they could destroy the nord streams pipelines. Its just impossible to believe no matter how you spin it. Only the US is capable.

  42. The US has always wanted all countries to go against china so that US primacy is protected. But it didn't succeed under dt so jb is using a softer approach. First quad gets converted, then try g7 plus south africa. Offer one good thing like more vaccines then whilst they are basking in their saviour role, hit them with the commercial one that also deals a blow to china. Smart move but no one likes that kind of surprises.

The ccp owes the majority of the hk citizens peace and stability as most are peace loving citizens. Every country has a national security law to stop outside nations from causing havoc and trying to cause regime change. Of course china is not going to lie down and be trampled on. I agree that data is useful for government and corporates in marketing and solving social problems but it is not like they can win a war against another country relying on data segments of teenagers social movements. The reason why usg wants tiktok is the future advertising income streams. All the wars it conducts are related to stealing resources.
