I grew up on a farm. My now-late father was always fixing his own problems with his tractors and combine, whenever possible. He would have schematic books with him all the time. He was always ordering parts which he then installed himself. He never had time to wait around for some repairman. I recall that he also hated the Farm Bureau. He only later joined the Farm Bureau because he could use it to get cheaper insurance. When people tell you to do or not do something, consider the possible benefits and risks of doing it vs. not doing it. Look at all sides and see what they would lose if the info got out.
