  1. I hated PulseAudio when it came out. It had lots of bugs and was hard to setup. But over time, PulseAudio has worked for me. I don't do any professional sound stuff and am a typical user, with video playback and occasionally opus encoded music being the only sound I use. The same guy who created systemd also created PulseAudio, and works at Red Hat. I hate systemd and use Gentoo so I don't have to use systemd. Pipewire looks promising.
