  1. We used to have a lot of high-paying manufacturing jobs in the USA. Then "trickle-down economics", pushed by Ronald Reagan but also continued by Democrats like Bill Clinton, did away with those jobs as government incentivized companies to move those jobs overseas. "Trickle-down" never worked for most people as it was more like "trickle-up". The rich got much, much richer and everyone else, even though boosting their productivity, saw their real wages fall drastically.
