4. Now you're just arguing that if the Japanese weren't militaristic, totalitarians they could have won. You are changing the entire premise of the war.

1. The US stopped selling American fuel to Japan over the Japanese occupation of French Indochina. 2. Retaliation over what? Japan attacked Pearl Harbour and the Phillipines. That is a war, not mere retalliation. 3. Not by 1941. The US had expanded its army significantly in 1940 and 1941. Japan had a massive army 4. ??? 5. Yeah.

@JohnSmith-il7jn Japan had no honour. Their boshido was a 19th century creation and a farce. It was not at all the conduct of Samurai.

Search by new and you will find people still arguing Japan could have won. So much for "obvious".

@f430ferrari5 Biased? Are you serious right now? 12:41 He even says that even if all Japenese ships in service in Devember 1941 survived and all Japanese construction programs were finished they could not handle the US fleet put to sea by 1944.

@grandcanyon-d4d Germany had nothing as advanced as Allied computing, radar or synthetic fuel, let alone an atomic bomb..

How would Japan do that with most divisions stuck in China?

The Japanese were pretty determined too. Fanatical in fact.

The US did not try to find and kill him per se. They intercepted a message they decoded mentioning Yamamoto's flight plan. That's when they intercepted him.
1
Japan did not have the logistical capabilities.

@MrSamBowers "I can tell English is not your first language." Woooow. That is very much an ad hominem.
1
No? Japan couldn't win the attritional war it was in.
1
@JohnSmith-il7jn The Japanese did not believe in battle fatigue or rotations. They did emphasize bayonet charges because "their spirit would triumph".

What exactly destroyed the Japanese's ability to wage war? Destroying their convoys and bombing their industry. An Island without a navy cannot wage war overseas.

@f430ferrari5 You're projecting
1
"You were allied" how immature of you.
