You know, I do wonder if someone is holding Putin's leash, to stop him invading NATO allies, and that maybe part of the reason for his atrocities in Ukraine are to goad NATO into something like a no fly zone, so that he will be let off his leash. He knows that with the unexpected resistance he might be fighting a very expensive and protracted battle that will eat away at his influence. NATO shooting down a Russia plane is probably what he is praying (to the devil) for.
