Instead they recommended just isolating the most vulnerable until NATURAL herd immunity developed. This advice was later published in the Great Barrington Declaration. The government willfully ignored this advice, which has proven to be spot on. Being the kind of people they are they would rather cause far more damage than ever admit to their colossal cock up. And the British public don't want to admit that they have been taken for complete suckers.
