I'm not a fan of Boris, but if I was in his position I would do the same. He is seriously rich, so why put up with hassle when he doesn't need to, and when resigning will stick it to those who pushed him out of No.10. Of course, if he had had the balls to "let the bodies pile high in the street" he would still be prime minister, and maybe even lauded. Looking at the likes of Sweden, it's very clear that the bodies would not have piled up in the street, and several recent very reputable studies have concluded that lockdowns were completely useless: unless you count wrecking the country and the Tories as useful.
