Don't be too quick to blame advisors. Most "leaders" work in exactly the same way. You see it all the time in business. A consultant is called into a firm to confirm that what the boss wants to do is exactly the right course of action. 99 times out of a 100 that consultant will have been given big hints about what findings he is to make. In rare instances were the consultant doesn't say what the boss wants to hear he is sacked and another more amenable consultant is hired.

@ashleylittle6776 In a business you only get sacked for not telling the boss what he wants to hear. Would you be the one to tell Putin that he had no chance of fulfilling what he had been dreaming about for many years. I've told bosses what they don't want to hear several times, but even with my massive mouth this would be one time I'd sing the required tune.

@ashleylittle6776 That's exactly my point. If most will tell the boss what he wants to hear just to keep the pay cheques coming then even more will do so to stay out of a gulag.
