@yosoypatrick It's not as convenient/routine as church attendance is, and that's key. The routine of church attendance makes the associated health benefits into ROUTINE health benefits. >"enjoyed only by the religious" no, i clearly never said that, and you've missed my point if you think i did say that. These things have always been PEOPLE things, Religion merely co-opted them, putting them all together as one big multi-vitamin. But we can re-own these things ourselves again.

i'm a little disturbed that Allain, who has a Masters degree in Philosophy from Oxford, is telling me that Philosophy doesn't deal with questions like "how do i live?" I thought that's what philosophy was all about, and indeed i swear i have heard him say as much in some of his books! I'm royally confused now.

@yosoypatrick and that's why the new religions were so popular, because they borrowed traditions that people had already been following. So you can either say that those traditions are a religious thing, or you can say that they were a PEOPLE thing. eg: Singing is fun, maybe good for you (?) at least communally. It's something a lot of religious people get to do @ church while non attending Atheists miss out on that convenience. Maybe Atheists should do that too, why not? that's 1 example
