@josh-rz3uq You clearly have never been to Morocco. Nor, do you seem to know anything about either culture. Maybe spend some time learning about how Jews view and treat women. Moroccans as well (not every Muslim country is the same). An open mind and learning something new is a good thing!

@wlkbeastmode-issiap.346 We only follow the Old Testament. We also don't believe in proselytizing. The only outreach we do is to other Jews to bring them back to God.

So great!! Call you local Chabad and see what they are doing for shabbat. Or Chanukah! Then you will be able to say "I saw the light!!" π Chag sameach!!

Chabad has a great, wonderful presence in Morocco! A beautiful country with beautiful people! I was supposed to go back last April... hoping to go this April...(what are my chances, do you think??). Be well!!

@Historian212 LOL, that was funny! They keep to themselves because many people who approach them out of curiosity are not only stopping them in the middle of their day, they are sometimes frightened. It isn't a lack of confidence but fear. Anti-semitism, especially right now, is very real. But note that they all speak English. They may prefer to speak Yiddish but they can all speak Yiddish--they all grew up in New York.

Just to clarify--there are Ashkenaz AND Sephardic Chassidim. Even though the Chassidic movement started in Poland and technically with Ashkenazim, the movement spread and grew and now there are probably just as many Sephardic Chassidim across the world.

@littlebird8346 Not by her religion, by her community. And that is not in this community. It is, however, prevalant in communities such as Satmar (such as what you watched in Unorthodox). Every group has their bad apple.

Gigi is trolling....

The issue is that they are super hard to find. Orthodox Jews have to live within a mile of their synagogue which is why our real estate never goes down. Just up. Even now....

The Lubovitcher Rebbe said, "Where there is a Jew, we will build a Chabad House", which is why there is a Chabad house in any city in the world where there is a Jewish community (or they go and create one). A great place for travelers who need kosher food, a synagogue for shabbat, etc. The Rebbe never visited Israel because, he said if he ever went he would not be able to leave. There is however a large Chabad community there. With many Chabad houses.

Take the Tube up to Golders Green or Hendon one weekday and walk around. Have a meal in a kosher restaurant (when we can again). It is just like Brooklyn!

And there is another series about the community in Manchester that is worth a watch if you haven't seen it. It will show you the diversity of the Orthodox Jewish community, which is something that I don't think he has realized exists yet. Chassidim are easy to pick out of a crowd. Other Orthodox Jews blend in more. Check out the show (sorry I can't think of the name--I will look for it if you are interested tho. Just let me know!)

@nom_de_guerre_ Not really, as our cycle controls it. Not always so convenient as you have to visit the mikveh after you have counted 7 clean days. When traveling, etc., it can be difficult. But yes, when you get home, it is always a very pleasant reunion!

@littlebird8346 What part do you find unbalanced?

@user-gh7lm3dh7s Yes, spilling seed is an issue. For the same reason, certain birth controls are not allowed (when and if allowed at all).

@HunterSkowronPDX I don't know where you live or which Chassidic groups you have dealt with, but that is a huge generalization. There are plenty of other videos like this one. Oprah even did a series. There is also one on the community of Manchester, England that is well done. Yes, some communities are more insular than others. And other communities are very integrated in everyday American life and culture (they are doctors, lawyers, etc.).

He only touched on it very briefly. Check out chabad.com or aish.com and search on niddah or family purity for a more in depth explanation!
