@ericphua2359 US is the largest source of DFI in Singapore. More than US$300 B China is less than US$40B. Without the US, Singapore is dead. China is still too underdeveloped, less sophisticated, lower in technology to be able to have an impact or replaces US. China is only the desert in any meal. Moreover, China is turning inwards with their second cultural revolution. Communist China is decoupling from the World.

Without USA, it is a waste of time and money to Counter Communist China on its own. So Republic of Taiwan, has to make itself relevant to the US and to the rest of the world. Then, the additional increase in defence spending will not be in vain.

From 1979 until the 2010s, US was reluctant to sell anything substantial to Taiwan. It all Changed with CCP's stupidity, lawlessness and aggression all over the world. Today, The world is supporting a Republic of Taiwan. A fully armed democractic Republic of China, Taiwan. It was unthinkable just 10 years ago that USA will come to Taiwan's Aid if Communist China were to reclaim Taiwan. But today, The World including the US will willingly come to the defence of Taiwan if Communist China were to try anyrhing funny. Communist China has lost Taiwan for good because of its own stupidity. Taiwan will never become a part of Communist China as long as The Taiwanese people refuse Communist dictatorship. Bye Bye 1 country 2 system. There is 2 China. Always has. A sitting cabinet member, Azar went on an official visit to Taiwan, Republic of China in 2020. US senators visited Taiwan, Republic of Taiwan-Formosa in US military planes and landed in Taiwan Republic. Taiwanese's National Flag is allowed to fly in US of A again in and during official functions. Taiwanese official even in Taiwanese military uniforms are allowed to participate in US government official functions. Taiwan US FTA is proceeding. Taiwan is allowed and supported by the US to establish Representative office in Taiwan Republic's name in A EU, Nato nation - Lithuania! US coast guards are patrolling the straits of Taiwan as and when they want with the new agreements signed between US and Taiwan Republic. You need to face the new reality. China is self isolating. China needs to stop making an enemy out of anyone and everyone.

Maybe you're the one that needs to grow up, at least intellectually. Plus the UK just sailed it's warships across the Taiwan Straits.
