  1. Ironically the entire point of checks and balances in our government was to prevent things from getting done to preserve liberty and prevent bureaucratic authoritarianism. We've been asleep at the wheel thinking short term as always letting the government get around those checks and balances that has made the dysfunctional government which exists today. If you want to blame someone blame our forefathers for letting our government get out of control becoming the monster it is today because they never questioned their motives beyond what benefitted us in the moment and the whole "It's America, it can't happen here!!" Syndrome that still prevails.
