  16. Poland signed a non-aggression pact with the Nazis in 1934 and helped in the invasion of the rest of Czechoslovakia in 1939. The Germans thought letting the Poles have Czech land would allow them to get Gdansk (Danzig) in exchange so they could reconnect East Prussia. Poland said no. This set off the German invasion of Poland.
