it is a cultural thing (must be), for Indians, they determine something not based on facts, but based on who or how many said what, for them , they like to say some can be trusted or not trusted, if they think that person can be trusted, so that person said is true, no evidence, no fact needed. It is from a concept of Hinduism and Buddhism tradition, called "India logic" which is different from Greek logic which emphasis an argument needs 2 parts 1, statement 2 the fact used as evidence to support the statement. for Indian logic, the support part is not fact, but is someone (can be trusted ) said or how many people said something, In Buddhism the monks needed to go many cycles of this kind debate using this "Indian logic" to get promoted to the higher rank.

People with miserable lives survive with 2 things in the spiritual to help relief from their cruel reality and material life, 1, dreaming, 2 making lies. It is very typical for India with both. In Hinduism, telling lie is not a problem if the person feels if not tell lies will put him in danger, so not any guilty feeling or spiritual burden for an Indian to tell lie. Making lies, telling lies, spreading lies, believing in lies, enjoying lies, getting pleasures from lies, is the nature of this nation. because it is the only way for these people to get pleasures which they cannot get from their real life.
