first of all, do you know why Dalai Lama became a ruler of Tibet?? Dalai was not a military commander, he did not lead an army to conquer Tibet, he was not king of Tibet, he was not elected by Tibetan people, the meaning of "Dalai" is just a person with rich knowledge, there were hundreds of Lamas, in Tibet, why Dalai could be the ruler?? the reason is all his power and legitimacy was authorized by the Emperors (from Yuan Dynasty, Dalai was a teacher to the emperor, to Ming, to Qing ) to central government of Republic of China to People Republic of China.
For the 14th Dalai, he is just regular person with a title put on his head he is not very intelligent he changes his positions all the time, with living Buddha crown on his head he contributed very little in Buddhism he may not really understand Buddhism at all or he would not spend so much time on political matters, he is nothing to China, and he cannot be a good tool for US or India either, for all his life, he achieved nothing both politically or spiritually. Once he dies, nobody will really remember him for long since he did nothing meaningful to his people.
